asthma inhaler When you have asthma and your asthma symptoms are caused by things like molds, pollen, dust mites, etc., you are said to have allergy induced asthma. It is also referred to as allergic asthma or allergy asthma.

Allergies Explained

So lets start off with a quick explanation of allergies. The most common form of allergies that we are all familiar with is hay fever. When someone with hay fever comes in contact with different kinds of pollen floating around in the air you get a runny nose, itchy eyes and you sneeze a lot. That means you are allergic to pollen.

How Your Body Reacts

Your body is confused and thinks that pollen is something bad invading your body. Since your body doesn't have a gun to shoot the pollen, it releases something called histamines into your system. These are the hit men sent out to get rid of the invaders. Unfortunately, these hit men running around in your body cause you to have a runny nose, itchy eyes, and to sneeze a lot. Not a whole lot of fun.

Pollen is called an allergen, which means that it is something that causes your body to release histamines. Some other allergens that can cause the same types of problems are:
  • Mold Spores - These float around outside just like pollens do and cause the same problems.
  • Dust Mites - Dust mites are tiny, microscopic bugs. They live on dead skin cells from people or pets. It's a good thing that they are too small to see because they are very gross. They live in places where they can find dead skin cells like mattresses, pillows, carpets, etc. They are living things, so guess what? They go to the bathroom and their waste contains a protein which you might be allergic to.
  • Pets - All pets give off pet dander, saliva and urine. You could be allergic to any of these.
  • Cockroaches - You could be allergic to the cockroach bodies, their urine or saliva.
  • Indoor Mold - Check your whole house, especially areas that might be damp or humid.
  • Smoke - Especially cigarette smoke , but could be other kinds of smoke also like from a fireplace, candles, etc.
So now we know that certain things (called allergens) cause people with allergies to have symptoms like a runny nose, itchy eyes and sneezing. The bad news is that these same allergens can cause people with asthma to have the additional symptoms that are associated with asthma. Many people have both allergies and asthma. If these allergens listed above cause you to have asthma symptoms then you are said to have allergy induced asthma.

The Asthma Part Of Allergy Induced Asthma

What is asthma? If you have asthma, your airways or breathing tubes leading to your lungs are the things that are overly sensitive. When you come into contact with something that your body really doesn't like, you end up with what we call asthma signs and symptoms. These symptoms are different than your allergy symptoms. Most types of asthma have the same symptoms except for cough variant asthma, which is an exception. The common asthma symptoms are:
  • Coughing - usually a chronic cough where you also cough up gunk (phlegm or mucus).
  • Wheezing - this is a kind of whistling sound, usually when you breathe out.
  • Tightness in the Chest - this is caused by the muscles around your airways trying to squeeze them shut.
  • Shortness of Breath - you can no longer take a deep breath because of what is happening to your airways.

Respitrol can help you and your family in the following ways:

  • Promotes easier breathing
  • Relieves wheezing, coughing, tightness in the chest, shortness of breath
  • Strengthens your overall immune system
  • Boosts your energy level for a more active lifestyle
  • You get these results without any side effects

Asthma Triggers

Those things that cause your asthma symptoms are called your asthma triggers. You will want to check out that page for all the details on what kinds of things can be asthma triggers, but some of them will be the same things that cause allergies. Things like dust mites, mold, pollen, and the others. That is where the name allergy induced asthma comes from.

Now the interesting part of this situation is that you might not be allergic to those things but they might still cause your asthma symptoms. The bad news is that for many people, they are allergic to those allergens like mold, pollen, etc. and those same allergens are also responsible for their asthma symptoms. Check out the asthma prevention page for tips on how to avoid or reduce your exposure to tose allergens.

Asthma Is More Serious Than Allergies

Unlike your allergy symptoms which are very annoying, an asthma attack can become life threatening. So what can you do about your allergy induced asthma? Easy answer. Since your asthma is caused by coming into contact with any of those things on your asthma triggers list, just stay away from all of those things. Sounds like the perfect cure doesn't it?

Nope. I guess not. Especially with allergy induced asthma. It will be pretty hard to avoid airborne things like pollen and mold spores unless you spend your life in a clean room. At least with other asthma types like exercise induced asthma, you could just stop exercising and become a couch potato.

Asthma Treatment Options

So what other options are there? What most people used to think was their only choice was to take asthma prescription medications. As you will find out from that page, there is a better alternative that millions of people have already switched to.
